Feeling The Sand Between Your Toes!

Every week by popular demand we gather to “dig in” and play some volleyball!  This is a great way to meet other members and just get out and have some fun after a day of work.  We meet after the heat of the day has passed (somewhat) and sink our toes in the sand at Scottsdale Ranch Park for a couple hours of Bumps, sets and even some pretty impressive spikes!!  It’s always fun, definitely entertaining and yes even competitive!  We normally follow-up our heated game with food and drinks at a nearby venue where the liveliness continues!

Tuesday’s are our volleyball game nights, so if you’re wanting to feel some sand between your toes come by and join us! Events and Adventures Phoenix

Out On The Urban Ale Trail

This self-guided tour connected our E&A beer lovers to the vast assortment of greater downtown Phoenix restaurants and watering holes, known for their amazing craft beers on tap.
Participating establishments provided beer samples, as well as tasty snacks to pair with the selection of ales, lagers, pilsners, ciders, stouts and sours.
The first 300 people to start hiking the Urban Ale Trail received a free commemorative growler; and you can bet your boots our E&A members got theirs! District American Kitchen, Phoenix Public Market Café, Hula's Modern Tiki, Angels Trumpet Ale House, The Duce, Squid Ink Sushi Bar and the Crescent Ballroom were just some of the establishments we were able to visit!!  It was unanimously decided that everyone definitely wanted a 2nd Annual Urban Ale Trail next year!! Summer Is Still Here In Sunny Phoenix.....

Summer is still here in sunny Phoenix, Arizona and nothing is better to beat the heat than a pool party at Talking Stick Resort and Casino.  Our members were treated to an amazing day filled with music and poolside performances by the best DJ’s helping us celebrate the weekend in style!!  It was a place to see and be seen!  Talking Stick Resort’s “Release Pool Party” was voted Best Valley Pool Parties of 2013 by Arizona Foothills Magazine.  There was poolside food, promotional giveaways and non-stop drink specials as well as the opportunity to hang out with the most amazing people; our E & A members!!  The party kicked off at 10:45 in the morning and went on all afternoon.  It was a gorgeous backdrop for a relaxing, fulfilling and definitely fun day at the pool! If you missed this one we will be returning to the Resort for a “Summer of Love” Pool Party on Saturday, September 27th!  Hope to see you there!!

Volleyball, Horse Shoes, Darts and Live Music!

Have you ever been to a venue that felt more like you were at a friend’s for a Bar-B-Que??  That’s the way it was for E & A Phoenix members at our event Friday night!  The Monastery offered up Sand Volleyball courts, Horse shoes, darts and some amazing live music!!  The band was fabulous, the grills were hot and we got to cook our own burgers, brats or chicken! This event allowed for plenty of time to get to know other members in attendance and socialize all night long!  After several games of volleyball followed by good food & drinks it was decided that our evening at the Monastery was the perfect get together to close out our work week! We Came, We Played and We Conquered!

Scottsdale Ranch Park was the site for our Saturday night Volleyball festivities!!  We came, we played and we conquered – the court that is!!  Monsoon season is upon us though and we were chased out by oncoming storms with thunder and lightning!  No worries though, we continued our festivities at Goldie’s for some good food, drink and to finish out our evening together!  If you didn’t make it, we missed you………………..But, you can make it to our next one in August! It's a Pool Party on  on August 23rd. Hope to see you there!

Checking Out Hot New Restaurants!

Bitter & Twisted, Phoenix’s hot new restaurant downtown was a major hit for E&A members!!  Of course fun was had by all – Where have you been recently that you can get meals that vary from a burger with lemon grass and black pepper crusted patty with a house pate’, shaved pickles, spring herbs and jalapeno mayo, or Fried chicken with cheese gravy and watermelon kimchi???  An appetizer that caught my eye was their “Popcorn”!!  It consisted of butter, garlic, nori & shichimi spicy rice crackers.  Their sweets menu had “Campfire Marshmallows”!  Yummm!  The food was served family style, so we all got to taste a bit of everyone else’s!

The food was good, location was awesome, good ambiance and great prices!  The restaurant even had a menu for Booze & Beer to go!!  This is definitely a place for us to revisit and try out some of their other menu items!  Down the road they are putting together fun cocktail classes………….There’s an idea for a calendar event!! Every Month We Have A New Member Ice Breaker!

Every month, usually around the beginning of the month, we have a New Member Ice Breaker event.  It’s a great way for anyone new to the club to come and meet other new members! There’s nothing worse than feeling like you’re the newbie when it “looks” like everyone else has known each other for years. Although that’s usually not the case, we still want to make sure that being new to Events & Adventures, you feel welcomed and know that you’re not the only newbie around!  

The New Member Ice Breaker event is a great way to get situated into the club! It’s a also great to know that you and all the other “newbies” are attending your very first event together, at the same time. In these meetings we go over some basic E & A 101 information. What if you’re late? What if you can’t make an event or what if you don’t have that last meeting and can now make it to an event that you haven’t signed up for? We’ll go over all the general information and basic protocol, but the best part about these meetings: you get to meet other new members! We always play a fun ice breaker that gets people talking and meeting as many people right off the bat! It’s a fun, pressure free way to get to know the ‘ends and outs’ of the club, while meeting new people and making new friends! Events and Adventures Phoenix

Painting & Wine Classes!

A favorite event around here at Events & Adventures is when we attend the popular painting and wine classes that happen throughout the city. These easy going classes not only allow for a nice glass of wine, but it is also the perfect opportunity to talk and get to know other members better, while doing something fun!

The great thing about these classes is that it doesn’t matter if you know how to paint or not. During these two hour classes we receive step by step instruction from a professional painter who not only knows how to paint, but is usually great at explaining and giving tips on how to paint. Overall it’s a great time to sit back and relax and enjoy yourself as you learn something new and get in the process get to know those around you better as well! Events And Adventures Phoenix

The easiest way to take photos these days are with one’s cell phone. Most camera phones take better pictures today than any point-and-shoot camera did just a few years ago!  Over here at E & A, every so often we do an event that revolves around phone photography 101 – by learning how to use  a couple of our phones apps to take pictures, make them look awesome and then share them with everyone! This past week we did just that!

Everyone was able to set up an Instagram account, then we found each other to follow via IG and learned the basics of posting pictures directly on IG as well as sharing them in other social platforms along with a couple of other apps that allow us to make our pictures more unique and cool looking! Of course we were able to mix and mingle and get to know each other better, so it made for a fun evening of learning something new and making new friends! Events And Adventures Phoenix

What An Adrenaline Rush!

One of the most fun events I’ve done with Events & Adventures just happened this past week when we went to Octane Raceway to go ‘Go Kart Racing’!  Talk about an adrenaline rush!  We had a large group of us from the club that signed up and went – and since it was so large, we broke up into two groups, taking our turns with small breaks in between each race. After picking our individual race names, jumping in the race carts, going over the safety rules, we each had three races.  With each race, I felt more and more capable of driving faster and taking the turns sharper! Although it wasn’t a race against each other, but more or less our own time, it still felt very much like a race where we wanted to be in front of the pack! This is an event we will definitely be doing again in a month or so! Events And Adventures Phoenix

Member's Meeting & Game's Night Fun!

This last month’s member meeting and game night was a total blast! Between playing games, getting on the blow-up jousting game (something I’ve never done before), snacking on the food provided and mingling with everyone, there was something going on non stop! It was a good mix of different people, from all over the place as well and everyone was able to socialize in a fun, easy going atmosphere.

We had a couple of games happening at different tables as well. From ‘Battle of the Sexes’ to ‘Sour Apples to Apples’ and a couple other options, allowing us enough time to chat, get to know each other and laugh between other things that were going on. We also went over upcoming trips and events happening in the club and also had the opportunity to write down or check off a list of event suggestions that we would be interested in going and doing. Those brave enough got up on the blown-up jousting game to see who could come out a winner! It was very entertaining and it’s like time stopped as we all turned to watch the different matches take place. Overall it was a fun evening and perfect atmosphere for a new member to get to know those in the club! Events And Adventures Phoenix

1. FEEL LIKE A KID

        When you are a kid making friends is easy.  You are constantly around other people in sports, school, your neighborhood, summer camp, cousins/family, band, church etc… that you constantly are able to talk and meet and play with people your age and of similar interests.  We take that, along with a million other things, for granted when we are young.  When we are adults and we move cities or become suddenly single for the first time in a long time we can feel very alone; sometimes for the first time ever.  Commute, work, eat, sleep-repeat becomes “life.”  That isn’t LIFE as we know it in E&A.  Every day offers a new adventure to us.  Every weekend is new chance to explore, be creative, to love people, to like, to fail, to get back up, to test my limits, to find my strengths, to face my weaknesses to meet new people and most importantly find out new things about ourselves.  E&A might make you feel like a kid again when we do fun things like Trampoline Dodgeball, Cosmic Bowling, High Ropes Course, Go Karting and other things…you might feel like a kid again but you will most certainly FEEL ALIVE again.

New Member Ice Breaker!

What To Do On A Monday Night?

Sometimes an easy going event is just what’s needed on a Monday night. Heading somewhere where we can hang out and get to know other members, but where there is something interactive to do as well.  This past Monday evening we headed over to The Yard at the Culinary Drop Out. We were about 30 strong and had a total blast, and we ended up closing out the place at the end of the night!

Not only is the area large and roomy with plenty of seating, but there’s tons to do. Our group played everything from foosball, corn hold, to ping pong and shuffle board! Anyone who didn’t grab dinner before coming out for the evening had a great selection of appetizers, dinner options and of course, plenty of cold drinks to satisfy whatever you might be craving. It was a great way to end a hectic Monday, by attending an easy going event, meeting new members and making new friends, pressure free! Events And Adventures Phoenix

Have You Tried Glow In The Dark Frisbee?

One of the most enjoyable events I’ve attended thus far has been Glow in the Dark Ultimate Frisbee! Not only were we able to get out and get some good exercise, running up and down the field, but I was able to meet some members I hadn’t met before!  Although I consider myself to be athletic, throwing a Frisbee with precision is difficult – which made for an interesting game! Each team wore their specific glow in the dark bracelet color, which was useful since it was pretty dark outside,  we could see each other easily!

After we had exhausted ourselves with glow in the dark ultimate Frisbee, most of us headed over to Buffalo Wild Wing for a quick bite to eat, only to realize that we were more tired that we had thought! It was great to chat and get to know the other members better and I would definitely attend this event again! Hopefully next time the teams will be more equal! Events And Adventures Phoenix

Giving Back To Our Community!

Every so often we have events were we get to give back to those in need. From gathering blankets to donate to the homeless, collecting art supplies for a kids program, to gathering canned food to donate to those who might be struggling. Events & Adventures likes to actively participate with other like-minded members in giving back to the community.

This weekend, we have just that opportunity. We will be heading to downtown Phoenix, to St. Vincent de Paul’s ‘Henry Unger Dining Room’, to help set up, prepare, serve lunch and clean up.  It won’t just be our group of members though; we’ll be volunteering with several others from the community – so the work will be light! Not only will this event be a great opportunity to give back to those in need, but to meet and get to know other like-minded E & A members! Don’t miss out! Events And Adventures Phoenix

Reliving A Bit Of Our Youth!

Every now and then we like to relive a little bit of our youth here at Events & Adventures!  We need to do something that breaks up the long, mundane-work-week with a fun activity that is ‘out of the norm’ from some of the typical weekly activities.  This week’s midweek event was just that. We went out and played ourselves a couple games of Laser Tag!

There’s something about running around a dark room, shooting laser lights at other members in the club, yelling to your team mates to help you out because you’re in a tough spot, and coming out victorious in the game against other E & A members!  

Afterwards, we usually grab an appetizer or drink and discuss the how fun and how long it’s been since we last played laser tag. We get to meet and talk with the members of the opposing team that we haven’t met yet; and yes, you’ll always remember how you won the game by tagging someone’s laser vest you didn’t know!  It’s a lot like reliving your youth and it’s not a common event here in the club, but sometimes it’s just what was needed to get us through a long week of work. All About Members Meetings....

Once a month the Phoenix Events & Adventures Club has an event where we get together to discuss upcoming events that are on the calendar, go over events that the members want to see ON the calendar and then to discuss any of the Club Wide Trips (international and stateside) that are coming up! These Member Meetings are great in that everyone has the opportunity to talk about what they want to see on the calendar in way of events!

Phoenix is HUGE and with so many cool places to check out, events happening throughout The Valley – throughout the year, it’s great to hear directly from club members and what they’re most interested going and doing together!  From an Event Managers perspective, I’m most interested in what the members want to go and do, it’s their club! As always, event ideas and suggestions can be emailed in, but it’s always great to discuss them as a large group!

Checking Out Local Brunch Spots!

Once and sometimes twice a month, the Event & Adventures Crew likes to check out the local breakfast/lunch joints throughout The Valley.  From upscale restaurants serving endless mimosas, to hole-in-the-wall locations that create delicious masterpieces in their own right, we are constantly in pursuit of the best brunch around!  

Phoenix has plenty of well renowned restaurants, and even more hidden gems serving up breakfast and lunch that has us finding our new “favorite spot”, monthly!  Depending on what you’re interested in, you’re sure to see it on the calendar eventually – and suggestions are always welcome!  

Going out for brunch is always a great way to start ones day, as we get to meet other members, talk about the weekend’s events and anything else that might be going on! This Is The Time Of The Year To Get Outdoors!

This time of year in Arizona is great for outdoor events! While the rest of the country is being blanketed by snow, rain and single digit temperatures, we’re lucky to avoid any shoveling of snow and freezing weather all together! This past weekend, we took advantage of it by going out Saturday for a bike ride and Sunday for a hike!

What better way to start your weekend than to get a little bit of exercise with friends in the morning? There’s something about getting out into the fresh, crisp air, stretching your legs – whether it’s via peddling during a bike ride or hiking on a mountain!  And as most of you know, here in Arizona, we have to take advantage of this time of year, because summer will be here before you know it!  We have several hikes coming up this month, including a full moon hike! Now is the time to take advantage of getting out and hiking, without dealing with the heat! Events And Adventures Phoenix

Another Great New Years Eve!

New Year’s Eve with Events and Adventures was a blast!  It was great to see everyone all dressed up and ready to party! Like most women I have dresses that I love and never get to wear so there was no way I was passing up the opportunity to wear a little cocktail dress I bought in August!  It’s been collecting dust for way too long! 

The location was great, in Old Town Scottsdale and between the food, cocktails and dancing,  the night flew by!  There were great deals on rooms too, which was good because the dancing went on until 3am!  I loved my “swag bag” full of goodies, especially the glasses and vitamins for the next day.  I can’t believe I stayed out so late, I felt like a teenager again!
