Having The Time Of Their Lives, Doing Things They Normally Wouldn’t Do!

Working for Events & Adventures has been quite rewarding over the last several months.  When I’m able to attend events in the evening and on the weekends, I love meeting up and seeing the members that I’ve personally signed up.  It’s rewarding for a couple of different reasons.  When I first meet and interview with potential members, not all of them, but many of them can be shy, quiet and reserved.  So when I see them out and about, socializing and having a great time, I feel like I’ve done my job!  

They are having the time of their lives, doing things they normally wouldn’t do.  From playing volleyball to learning new dance moves, going to local live music joints, to playing games and mingling while wearing the ugliest Christmas sweater they could find!  Witnessing all of this first hand, member smiling, laughing and cutting loose, means the world to me! Monday.....Monday.......

Monday does not seem to be anyone’s favorite day around here, and for several reasons. F.O.U.R. more days of work. Events & Adventures has found a solution to the Monday Blues.  We have tried to make Monday evenings a little more enjoyable by doing something easy going, fun and something that everyone can participate in. Sometimes knowing that you don’t have cook dinner on a Monday night just might make your day a little bit brighter.  Knowing that you’re meeting up with friends is always a good thing too!  This past Monday we met up for a bit of mingling, along with some pretty amazing food and drinks at The Blind Pig.  With rave reviews of what The Blind Pig has to offer, we were all happy with our meals, their friendly service and the opportunity to just kick back and relax.   Instead of rushing home and trying to find something to throw together, we let the professionals take care of it for us while we enjoyed an easy going evening to close out our hectic Monday! Flying Through The Air......

Flying through the air is one of the most exhilarating and scary feelings I’ve ever felt! A few weeks ago, I decided to take the chance and signed up for the Saturday morning Trapeze 101 class, not knowing what I was getting myself into! I think everyone who signed up was in the same boat though; as we were all excited out of our minds!  All I can say is that If you like a challenge with a “scary” THRILL then this is an event I would recommend for you!

Our group was given basic instruction, pointers by trained trapeze team, and plenty of support by the members watching on the ground! The trapeze team has incredible ability and is something to see in person if you haven’t! We then each took flying through the air, thankful for the net below! This is definitely something I would sign up for again and would recommend to anyone! Events And Adventures Phoenix

Another Awesome Trip To New York!

Traveling with E&A is awesome. Not only do they do all the planning work, but we get to hang out with members of the other cities. I had such a great time! For many of us it was our first time in New York City. I got to experience the city with friends not only from Dallas but also Minneapolis, San Jose and Vancouver. I met a bunch of new friends from other cities too. I love that E&A scheduled the best stuff for us. Carnegie Deli, Radio City and the Rockettes, Hop on & off bus tour, boat tour around Manhattan Island with a fabulous narrator that knew, well, everything about the city’s history. The holiday lights are awe-inspiring. We had time to do our own thing, too. We got discount tickets for Broadway shows. Spiderman Rocked! Visited the Empire State & Rockefeller buildings-WOW. Sat in the audience of my first TV show. Really cool. We ate all kinds of delicious food (think I’ll be paying for that for a while). How can you stop when it’s EVERYWHERE? Thank you so much for a great trip! I’ll remember it forever!

Karaoke With Friends!

Who doesn’t love singing at the top of their lungs – in a private karaoke room?!  Knowing everyone you’re singing in front of cuts the nerves down quite a bit, that’s for sure!  The last karaoke event we did was at Geisha A Go Go - where we had our very own private room, food & drink service and a TON of song options to pick from!
We had such a great time trying out and picking and choosing songs to sing, cheering our friends/members on, eating sushi , ordering drinks from our own personal room (instead of waiting at the bar to order) and hanging out and meeting new people!  Overall, it was a great time and something we’ll definitely go back and do again! What Sign Are You?

I had a blast at the What Sign Are You? Party! When we arrived at the event location we were given a piece of paper with our individual astrology sign that included whatever our “likes and dislikes” are,  other signs you are compatible with and a name tag with your sign on it.  After looking over the information and putting the name tag on, we were off to the cocktail lounge to meet other singles that were also wearing the signs you are compatible with.

Needless to say I was able to meet A LOT of really cool people – some I had a lot in common with and others not so much, although they were really nice!  After that part of the event was done, we went down the street to a club that looked like it should have been in Las Vegas and continued to mingle with everyone there. From there we danced the night away! It was a great night! I able to socialize with like-minded people without being put on the spot or feeling like I was an unwelcome guest – because everyone was in the same situation as me! Looking For Some Colder Weather?

Can't wait to hang out with over 40 of my E&A friends on the 18th Annual Events and Adventures Whistler Ski Trip. We will be leaving on Thanksgiving, but will get there in time for a wonderful Thanksgiving feast with our E&A family. We will be staying in the Village for easy access to Chairlifts and Gondolas for some AWESOME skiing during the day and all the nightlife at night! Fred Astaire Dancing!

One of the most popular events here at Events & Adventures is anywhere where we get instruction on proper dance steps and moves! One of our favorite places to go is the Fred Astaire Dance Studio where the instructors are plentiful, music and dance partners are great and where we all feel comfortable putting to use the step-by-step instruction we received for the evening!  

We had such a great time a few months ago, that we decided to go check it out again in a new location! Between foxtrot, waltz, and several other dances, the options are endless! This  event is one of the best ways to meet other members as we have the opportunity to dance with one another throughout the evening! This is an event not to be missed! Adults Only Night!

This past weekend we headed downtown to check out the Adults Night Out event at the Phoenix Science Museum! All that really means is that there are NO kids! We were able to grab a drink at the entrance (if we wanted) and headed in with just us adults – and it was awesome!

As a group we checked out several of the floors of interesting information, challenged each other with their hands on experiments and got to know one another in a fun, open environment! There was no uncomfortable pressure or awkward activities that made anyone feel out of place.  Afterwards we met up at a local pub that had some great music, a plethora of drink specials and options along with great food! The best part of the evening though: we were there till the late hours getting to know one another, making new friends and just enjoying a night out and not sitting at home!

Doing the Cha Cha!

Looking back, attending events that “get you out of your shell” or events that you normally would NEVER do on your own are some of the best events to attend! For example, most of us are not the best dancers out there – but that doesn’t mean we can’t be taught how to ‘cut a rug, how to two-step, or just plain’ol how to ‘drop it like it’s hot’!

One of the best events that we do here at Events & Adventures is when the group goes out to learn a new dance! We’ve done a lot of country two-stepp’in lately and that’s been a hit!  So to get us out of our shell even more, we’re heading south of the boarder, with the Latin dominate Cha-Cha dance!  Ayi ayi ayi!  This fast, rhythmic ballroom dance from Latin-American has a basic pattern of three steps and a shuffle – easy as 1, 2, and 3! So guys, this is as easy as it gets ;)

The best part? With some great instruction, you’ll not only learn something you thought you might have never of learned and you’ll do it with an awesome group of people, making some great memories!

It's That Time Of Year Again!

There’s an event that only comes around once a year to Phoenix and it brings people from all over the state together for a couple of weeks. Yes, the Arizona State Fair. It’s a one-of-a-kind event that satisfies our inner-child via rides, food and activities!  

I don’t think we could get from ride to ride fast enough or scream from exhilaration any louder! It’s not every day you drop 100ft in just a few seconds or swing high and fast above the fairgrounds in the air! Between our group we ate our fair share of junk food – which was AMAZING! Ever try a deep fired Oreo? They’re actually pretty delish!

Within minutes of playing the fair games, we had all won a stuffed animal… only to add to our collection later on in the evening.  We got to pet baby goats, pot belly pigs, lambs and kangaroos! Walking around the state fair allowed us to chat and get to know each other better and talk about upcoming events. With amazing weather and great company, this event is a not-to-be-missed! Arizona Taco Festival!

Taking advantage of any outside events this time of year in Arizona is a MUST! With cool, sunny and bright days where the evenings are gradually getting colder and colder by the day, we’re heading to more local events that are outside!

An awesome event that we recently attended was the Arizona Taco Festival. With a ton of things to do, watch, and taste – this event was a perfect way to meet and mingle with E & A members, while enjoying the outdoors! With a fun venue that offered a lot in the way of experiencing new things, this has quickly become an annual event for Events & Adventures!

Along with the variety of live music, there were cooking demos on how to make a southwest favorite: tacos!  Also the wrestling classic luche libre was happening throughout the day, arm wrestling for tacos, different eating contests, and to top it all off – beautiful weather to be enjoyed by us! The AZ Taco Festival is now a favorite E & A event!

Halloween Bash at "The Venue"

Halloween 2013 at "The Venue" Benefiting the Boys And Girls Clubs was amazing! The Band was great and The Hot 97.5 was there to play the during the breaks.
We gave away some great prizes including a weekend for two at the Del Coronado Resort on Coronado Island to one of our lucky members. Great costumes great food, great music, and great friends, what more could you ask for?

Perfect Time of Year to Get Outside!

With the amazing weather in Arizona this time of year, we love getting outside and playing any kind of sport! Although it gets darker, earlier these days that doesn’t stop us! We have quite the collection of Glow in the Dark sporting equipment!  With a glow in the dark football, soccer and Frisbee, we’ve spent many-a-night running around, kicking goals and throwing touchdowns!  

Active sporting events are some of the best events to attend here in Phoenix! With a ‘just for fun’ attitude by almost all of our members, you’ll be sure to have a good time regardless of ability!  You’ll most likely get in some good exercise for the evening, show off your athletic talent, meet and mingle with other members and have an all around great time! With a couple weekly active events, come on out and try your hand at volleyball, soccer, football, kickball, Frisbee and more!

Live Music with the E & A Crew!

There’s something about listening to live music that can get your feet a tap’in, hips a sway’in and head bouncing to the beat! Some of the most enjoyable moments with the Events & Adventures Crew have been made while enjoying live music!

Some of our favorite memories have been at Big Bang – where we’ve listened to amazing live piano performances, where we enjoyed singing our guts out, requesting our favorite songs and showing off our dance moves in front of large crowds! Another E & A favorite around here is when we head out to getting our “boot- scootin-boogie” on as we’ve enjoy several live bands and fun country dance instruction! We’re getting really good at these dance moves – keep an eye out for more country dancing coming up!

Why Volleyball is an Awesome Event!

Here at Events & Adventures Phoenix we play volleyball once a week. You’ll even find us playing in the dead of summer when it’s well over a 100 degrees outside.  It happens to be one of our most popular events for a variety of reasons and I’ll tell you why.

Regardless of ability or skill level, we will cheer you on! You could miss every serve, bump or hit, or you might set it perfectly and spike it regularly… we will still cheer you on! Volleyball is one of the easiest events to meet new people every week, and although we have a pretty solid foundation of regulars that enjoy this event, we love having new people sign up and we like it even more when they become regulars themselves! There’s enough down-time to meet and converse with other members, but it’s competitive enough that you won’t feel like you’re wasting your time tossing a ball back and forth! There’s usually (but not always) an after event, which is always popular! Grabbing a nice cold drink usually does the trick and discussing upcoming events is always a hot topic!

If you’re new to Events & Adventures here in Phoenix, now is the time to come on out and enjoy a game of Volleyball! It’s still light out in the evenings, the weather is perfect and the people are great!
